October 31st 2017 Kuala Lumpur; The IEEE CASS Society Malaysia Chapter (IEEE CASS M) has successfully hosted the IEEE Women in Circuits and Systems 2017 (WiCAS2017) program at Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The WiCAS2017 is the second special program on Women in Circuits and Systems (WiCAS) held in Malaysia. Assoc. This educational visit is an activity planned for Electrical & Electronic Engineering undergraduate students to visit electronics or semiconductor industries in Penang, Malaysia. The educational visit was held to visit National Instruments (NI) Penang, Malaysia on 6th October 2017. This one-day educational visit was co-organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Selangor, Malaysia.  About 40 undergraduate students from UPM accompanied with four lecturers participated in the visit. This year (2017), IEEE CAS Malaysia Chapter has been awarded USD2000 from the IEEE CASS Region 10 Outreach Fund to promote IEEE Circuits and Systems. CAS Malaysia’s proposal was to promote CAS for the establishment of a new Nagoya CAS chapter and research collaborations between universities. On 27th November 2017, Prof. Dr. Shoji Kawahito from Shizuoka University in Hamamatsu hosted this visit where meeting and presentations from CAS Malaysia were set with his team from Imaging Devices Laboratory. IEEE CAS Malaysia Chapter has sent few delegates to the 1st IEEE South-East Asia Workshop on Circuits and Systems (SEACAS) 2017 which was held at Vietnam National University (VNU) in Hanoi, Vietnam on 7th-8th November 2017.The IEEE CAS representatives are Yoshifumi Nishio (IEEE CASS BoG Member) and Amara Amara (Vice President of IEEE CASS). Besides CAS Malaysia, other CAS chapters were also invited to the workshop such as Indonesia’s chapter, Singapore’s chapter and Thailand’s chapter. Brief description of the initiative/event          This year IEEE CAS Malaysia will host the 2017 Asia Pacific Conference on Postgraduate Research in Microelectronics & Electronics (PrimeAsia2017) in October 2017. In conjunction with the PrimeAsia2017, IEEE CASS Malaysia would like to promote engineering works carried out by women, young professionals and postgraduate students; and encourage them to join IEEE CAS Malaysia during the WiCAS Program 2017. On 27 July 2017, IEEE CAS Malaysia has organised a Networking High-Tea at Hotel Sri Malaysia, Kangar, Perlis, Malaysia. The objective of this event is to help society and members from universities and industries to exchange ideas, especially in research, collaboration and exchanging products commercialization ideas in Circuits and Systems area.
