On the 25th of May 2024, the IEEE CAS Malaysia has successfully conducted a STEM Outreach program for primary and secondary school students of Kg. Kerdas, Gombak and its nearby community. This program, co-organized with the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), was held at the Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology, IIUM. The program drew the attendance of 35 enthusiastic school students, ranging from 10 to 15 years old. The objective of the program was to expose the school children to the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), fostering their interest for these fields through hands-on activities and engaging talks. Additionally, the program aimed to inspire participants to become tech creators rather than solely tech users. The program began with motivational and career talk from two industry speakers, Ts. Dr. Ismifaizul Ismail from MIMOS Bhd., and Mr. Idham Ujang from PETRONAS. Following the talk, the school students were introduced to developing their own mobile app, from designing stage up to the deployment of the app onto their own mobile phones. This outreach program not only provided valuable exposure to STEM subjects for primary and secondary school students but also exemplified a dedicated commitment of the IEEE CAS in ensuring educational opportunities for all, particularly in underprivileged communities in nearby communities.
